About the artist

I am a Canadian-born artist based in Virginia’s Northern Neck, where the quiet rhythm of the surrounding landscape informs my practice. Working primarily through abstraction, I use natural forms as a point of departure rather than a fixed subject.

My paintings investigate the tension between structure and dissolution. Organic shapes are fragmented and reassembled through gestural mark-making, allowing petals, stems, and negative space to shift between recognition and ambiguity. Color operates less as description and more as a carrier of mood and movement, often pushing compositions toward a sense of instability.

The process is intuitive and iterative. Layers are built, disrupted, and reconsidered, creating surfaces that hold both immediacy and revision. This push and pull between control and release is central to the work, where moments of precision coexist with spontaneity.

By destabilizing familiar forms, I aim to open a more visceral way of seeing. The work invites viewers into a space where beauty is not fixed or decorative, but active, unsettled, and continually in flux.
